This is our first postcard from our big trip around Australia.
We've been to Uralla, home of Captain Thunderbolt.
As a young man he was wrongfully imprisoned, but escaped jail. The police were always chasing him to put him back in jail. Thunderbolt stole race-horses so he could always out-run the police.
He robbed people on the highway to survive, but the people loved him as they felt sorry for his situation, and loved his flamboyant ways.
Thunderbolt never shot anybody as his aboriginal wife - who helped him escape from jail - hated guns.
